Prior to the start of a new term, you will want to update the due dates and availability settings in your course. It is time-consuming to go through and change the due dates or set the availability for assignments, journals, announcements, and other content items individually. The Batch Edit tool is a way to change all of the due dates and the availability dates in a single place.

Access Batch Edit
Click on the three-dot menu in the upper-right-hand corner of the Content page, just below the course image.
Select Batch Edit.
On the Batch Edit page, all content appears just as it does on the Course Content page. You can expand folders or modules to view all items within.
Edit Dates
Select the checkbox to the left of the items you want to update. You can choose individual items or select a folder or module to select all items within it. Then, select Edit dates at the bottom of the page.
You have three options for editing multiple dates at once:
- Change dates by number of days: Enter a number in the Shift dates forward or Shift dates backward fields. All dates for the items selected will be adjusted forward or backward based on the field and number you choose.
- Change dates based on course start: This option adjusts all the assignment dates based on when the course started. All dates are moved forward by the number of days between the original start date and the new start date you selected.
- Change to specific date and/or time: You can choose to change the specific time of day for a submission.
Note: Only items with existing dates can be edited in batch. Otherwise, you can use this page to edit individual dates (see Edit Individual Item Dates below).
Edit Individual Item Dates
If you want to change only one item's date in Batch Edit, select the calendar icon to the right of the item. You can now adjust the due date. You can also delete the item's due date by selecting the trash icon beside the due date.
Then select the Add due date option and enter a date and time.
Click Save to set the due date.
Edit Visibility
You can use Batch Edit to make items hidden or visible to students.
Select Edit visibility in the bottom right-hand corner. Choose to make items hidden or visible to students.
Previous visibility settings for the items are overwritten. Date and time release conditions are removed for all selected items.
Delete Items
You can use Batch Edit to delete items from the Course Content page. Select Delete items.
Select Delete to confirm that you want to delete the items, or Cancel to return to the page.
Note: Deleted items can't be restored unless you have an archive file or export of the course with the items you deleted.
