Setting Up the Microsoft Authenticator App for UCLogin:

UCLogin requires users to set up the Microsoft Authenticator App as their Multi-Factor Authentication method.

NOTE: If you have changed mobile devices, you will need to contact IT for assistance in resetting your Microsoft Authenticator App.

  1. On your computer, navigate to the UCLogin homepage (www.ucumberlands.edu/uclogin) and enter your full UC email address and password when prompted.
  2. You will then see a screen saying, “Let’s keep your account secure.” We will now begin setting up your MFA. Click Next.

*You will need your computer and a mobile device to set up your MFA.
The computer steps will be on the left side in the following screenshots, and the mobile device steps will be on the right.

  3. On your smartphone, download the Microsoft Authenticator App from the Apple Store (for iOS) or the Google Play Store (for Android). Click Next on your computer.
  4. Follow the instructions on your mobile device until you see the “Secure Your Digital Life” screen with the sign-in options.

    • Click on Scan a QR Code.
    • When asked, click Allow for the app to access your camera.
    • Hit Next on your computer screen.
  5. Scan the QR code on your computer screen with your mobile device.
NOTE: You will need to scan the QR code inside the app.
  6. When prompted, you are REQUIRED to allow the app to send you notifications.
  7. Once you have scanned the QR code, you will see your University of the Cumberlands account appear in your app. Click Next on your computer screen.
NOTE: If your account says “Microsoft Entra ID” instead of “University of the Cumberlands”, your account was not recognized properly during setup. You will need to contact the IT Helpdesk for assistance.
  8. You will then be prompted to enter a 2-digit number from your computer screen into your mobile device. Once you have entered the number, click Next on your mobile device.
    • Both screens will automatically refresh.
  9. Your mobile device should refresh to show you your account. Your computer should give you a “Success!” message.

You have successfully set up the Microsoft Authenticator App as your UCLogin MFA.
